Privacy policy

MortgageMatch UK operates this directory of mortgage brokers and advisers and is the data controller for the personal data described below. We are not a broker, lender or regulated adviser. For any data-protection question, email contact@mortgagematch.org or use the contact page.

• Reviews: the name, star rating and comment you submit, plus the date. Reviews are published publicly, so please do not include information you would not want to be public.
• Contact and claim messages: your name, email address and the content of your message, so we can reply and keep a record of the request.
• Broker listings: firm-level business information such as name, address, phone, email and website. Where a listed email or phone number belongs to a sole trader, we treat it as personal data and process it under legitimate interest for the purpose of running a public trade directory.
• Technical logs: minimal server logs, including IP address and user agent, for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults.
• Analytics, with your permission: aggregated information about how pages are used, collected only if you accept optional cookies.

We do not ask for and do not want your financial details. Our calculators run in your browser: the figures you type into them are not sent to us or stored.

We rely on legitimate interest for directory listings, moderation, security logging and running the site, and on your consent for reviews, contact messages and optional analytics cookies. Where we rely on legitimate interest you have the right to object, and you can ask us to remove a listing that concerns you personally.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not sell or auction enquiry details to brokers. When you contact a broker using the details on a listing, you contact them directly and their own privacy policy applies to that conversation.

Data is held by infrastructure providers acting as data processors under contract, including Supabase for the database and our hosting and email providers for serving the site and delivering messages. Where a processor is outside the UK, transfers are made under the UK's approved safeguards.

Reviews and contact submissions are kept for as long as they remain relevant to the directory. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and diagnostics. You can ask us to delete a review you submitted, a message you sent or a listing that concerns you personally at any time.

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

We use essential cookies and similar storage where needed to operate the site, for example to keep an administrator signed in. With your permission we also use optional cookies to understand how the site is used, measure its performance and improve the service. You can accept or reject optional cookies when you first visit, and you can change your mind by clearing site data in your browser.

This site is intended for adults researching UK mortgages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes to how we handle personal data will be described here rather than made silently. How we handle accuracy and corrections across the rest of the site is set out in our editorial standards.
